In line with government guidelines, we take every precaution when it comes to our cleaning work to ensure that any risks concerning COVID-19 are kept to a minimum. Method Statement for Regular Cleaning During Covid Outbreak
Cleaning teams should be re-briefed to ensure they are aware of the updated cleaning guidance. We recommend that cleaning teams are regularly monitored to confirm the new cleaning schedules are being adhered to.
Cleaning Staff must be encouraged to clean their hands when they move from area to area.
The use of re-usable cloths should be avoided.
Personal Protective Equipment. (PPE)
Before commencing the new regular cleaning procedures, all cleaning staff must have in place:
- Clean hands with soap and water for twenty seconds.
- Put out Safety Warning Signs where applicable.
- Nitrile Gloves.
- Face mask if staff still working.
- Disposable Wipes or Towels as Applicable.
- Cleaning Product as Applicable.
- Alcohol Based Disinfection Product as Applicable.
- Waste Sacks
The cleaner must:
- Ensure Nitrile Disposable gloves are worn and regularly changed.
- Wear Face Mask if required.
- When using Alcohol Based Cleaning Solutions wear eye protection.
Do Not Proceed if the above PPE is not available
Equipment Required
Before commencing the updated regular cleaning procedure, all cleaning staff must ensure the following equipment is available:
- Cleaning Detergent with Manufacturers Product Safety Information.
- Disinfectant Solution with Manufacturers Product Safety Information.
- Adequate supply of disposable cloths.
- Adequate supply of 5 litre plastic buckets.
- Ensure there is an adequate supply of waste sacks to clear all waste products including disposable PPE – Remember that all waste needs to be sealed.

At Aberdeen Cleaning Services Ltd we have updated all of our method statements, cleaning risk assessments and procedures in line with the COVID-19 Government guidelines. Above is a brief overview of some of the updated instructions. More information can be found within the documents below.
We ensure that only staff that are trained by competent persons are able to complete these procedures. (Training records to be updated on our Management APP).
